I was born in Liberia and came to the United States when I was 18 from a Ghana refugee camp with just my sister. I had no work experience, was in a new place without much support and I didn’t talk a lot. I didn’t know how I was going to make plans to be a good person and succeed in life.
I started working at MTW and learned to talk to customers and work on the computer and be part of the team. I gained experience and responsibility to take care of my future. MTW always reminded me about what to do to succeed at school and helped make sure I graduated from high school. MTW took me to businesses and schools to visit and then helped me apply for schools. I was accepted to trade school to learn plumbing and I am almost done with my tests.
MTW still supports me a lot by coming to visit, checking on how I am doing, planning for future jobs and inviting me back to the store to pick up some shifts. More Than Words is a great place to support youth to make choices for
